New Edge is a broadband network services company providing business grade private NetVPN and MPLS solutions. Held a Director role over all departments in Operations as area was determined to be strategic or in need of specific focus: Network Deployment, Collocation, Provisioning, 7x24 Network Operations Center, Test & Turn-Up, Hi-Cap and DSL Maintenance and Repair, Program Management, Support Engineering, Multisite Project Management. Served as key go-to manager to multiple executive team members as that team changed over time. Moved to Marketing after pioneering the six-sigma based Voice-of-the-Customer (VOC) strategic focus at New Edge (1. Fast Order Interval, 2. Done Right the First Time Install, 3. Personalized Care, 4. Customer Portal that delights, 5. Accurate Billing, 6. Network Stability, 7. Timely Maintenance Response). Key process and system design role across all departments spanning 6 years in start-up mode and after acquisition by Earthlink (Q1 2006). Manager, International Systems Maintenance, AT&T, Morristown, NJ April 1999 - Sept 1999
Managed the U.S. permitting process for 1999 AT&T submarine cable systems (notably Japan-US, China-US, and TAT-14). Created the permitting function and systems for the new position at AT&T during a 'phase change' in submarine system permitting in the U.S. (due to increased State, Federal, and Public scrutiny). Interfaced with regulatory agencies, worked within environmental framework of coastal management plans both federally (Army Corp) and local: California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Oregon Dept. of State Lands, New Jersey Dept. of Environmental Protection, others. Led negotiations with commercial fishing entities and decided mitigation measures and engineering solutions with contractors. Extensive interface with internal and outside counsel. Supported submarine systems project management, cable protection, and other installation and maintenance functions.

Corporate Product Manager, Pacific Telecom Inc., Vancouver, WA 1996 - 1998
Spearheaded the deployment of ISP (Internet Service Provider) services (PTI NET) in PTI local-exchange territories. Responsible for network design, equipment selection, Help Desk and System Administration contracts, web site development, and corporate-wide coordination. Staff included webmaster.

Managed all aspects of the Pacific Telecom, Inc (PTI) wholly owned subsidiary WorldVox. Responsible for product concept, creation of user interface, graphic design, marketing and business plan, operation, advertising, billing, and customer support. WorldVox Conferencing was a fully automated Internet e-commerce application for the scheduling of teleconferencing services developed as a product on the 3rd tier located (USF) PTI DMS 500 switches.

Coordinated cable protection efforts: dockside visits, trade-shows, notification program, aerial surveillance for the North Pacific Cable (NPC, 1,260 Mb/s fiber system Oregon-Alaska-Japan). NPC MLO. Oversaw a submarine cable damage suit against the identified fishing vessel (culminating in a US$1.2M settlement). Created the ICPC (International Cable Protection Committee) Submarine Cables of the World – WWW Information Page (www.iscpc.org) in 1994 (perhaps the first telecom web portal). Coordinated procurement and/or bid of ROV systems, backhaul, earth station, cable depot equipment. NPC Owners' Lead Shipboard Representative: Coordinated installation and repair operations aboard various cable ships. NPC Owners’ Representative to technical meetings and investigations. Engineering analysis. Cable system consulting; Micronesian Inter-island Cable System (MICS) route survey shipboard representative. NPC Purchasers' Quality Assurance Representative for cable manufacture, system assembly and test, and ship loading. Performed QA audits to ISO 9001, negotiated corrective actions with manufacturer (STC Alcatel and OCC Japan). NPC Purchasers' System Commissioning Representative: Verified system test procedures and results (Miura Japan). PTC webmaster/WAN Administrator.
